Privacy Policy

1. What we collect

When you use MentionCatch, we collect the following information:

  • Account data — your email address, name, and authentication details provided through our identity provider (Clerk).
  • Product profiles — product name, URL, description, keywords, and subreddits you configure for monitoring.
  • Reddit data — public Reddit posts and comments that match your keywords, including author usernames, post titles, bodies, and metadata. We only access publicly available content.
  • Usage data — how you interact with the dashboard, which leads you view, save, or reply to, and AI feature usage.

2. How we use your data

  • Lead qualification — we use AI to score Reddit mentions against your product profile and generate reply drafts.
  • Notifications — we send email alerts about new leads based on your notification preferences.
  • Product improvement — aggregated, anonymized usage data helps us improve the service.

3. Third-party services

We share data with the following services solely to operate MentionCatch:

  • Clerk — authentication and user management.
  • Supabase — database hosting and real-time data infrastructure.
  • OpenRouter — AI inference for lead qualification and reply generation.
  • Resend — transactional email delivery for notifications.
  • QStash — reliable asynchronous job processing.
  • Vercel — application hosting and deployment.

We do not sell your data to third parties. We do not use your data for advertising.

4. Data retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, we remove all associated projects, leads, mentions, and personal data within 30 days. Anonymized, aggregated analytics may be retained indefinitely.

5. Data deletion

You can request deletion of your data at any time by emailing support@mentioncatch.com. We will process deletion requests within 14 business days.

6. Cookies

MentionCatch uses essential cookies for authentication and session management.

We use Google Analytics to collect anonymous usage data including pages visited, time on site, and general location (country/city level). This data helps us improve MentionCatch. Google Analytics uses cookies to track this information. You can opt out via Google's opt-out browser add-on at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout. We do not use advertising or retargeting cookies.

7. PIPEDA compliance

MentionCatch complies with the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), Canada's federal privacy law. Under PIPEDA, you have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you.
  • Challenge the accuracy and completeness of your information and have it amended as appropriate.
  • Withdraw consent for the collection, use, or disclosure of your personal information, subject to legal or contractual restrictions.

We collect, use, and disclose personal information only for purposes that a reasonable person would consider appropriate in the circumstances. We limit collection to what is necessary for the identified purposes and retain personal information only as long as needed to fulfill those purposes.

8. Quebec Law 25 (Bill 64)

For users residing in Quebec, we additionally comply with Quebec's Act respecting the protection of personal information in the private sector, as amended by Bill 64 (Law 25). This includes:

  • Conducting privacy impact assessments for any new project involving personal information.
  • Designating a person responsible for the protection of personal information (contact: support@mentioncatch.com).
  • Ensuring transparency about automated decision-making processes, including AI-based lead scoring.
  • Providing the right to data portability upon request.
  • Notifying the Commission d'acces a l'information du Quebec and affected individuals in the event of a confidentiality incident.

9. GDPR (EU users)

If you are located in the European Economic Area, you have additional rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), including the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict processing, and port your data. Our lawful basis for processing is contractual necessity (to provide the service) and legitimate interest (to improve the product). 10. CASL compliance (Canadian Anti-Spam Law)

If you have provided express or implied consent, we may send you marketing emails about MentionCatch updates and features. You may withdraw consent at any time by clicking “unsubscribe” in any marketing email or contacting support@mentioncatch.com. We comply with Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL).

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes via email or an in-app notice. Continued use of MentionCatch after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
